In 1976, Bremen celebrated America’s 200th birthday along with the rest of the nation in a great show of patriotism and local pride that included renovating the historic 1892 standpipe water tower, painting bicentennial images on roads, sidewalks, and buildings, and holding a festival in the style of the township’s German ancestry.

The next year, citizens of Bremen decided to make the Bremen Oktoberfest an annual tradition and carried for 14 more years. Today’s Oktoberfest committee salutes the committee members and participants of past Oktoberfests and hopes to carry on the tradition in their spirit!
